Planning a Group Trip Together
Create a shared source of truth for dates, responsibilities, activities, and decisions without over-scheduling everyone.
Agree on the fixed points first
Start with the decisions that constrain everything else: destination, dates, arrival/departure points, approximate budget, and any non-negotiable activity.
Separate “must do” from “nice to have”
A group itinerary becomes fragile when every suggestion is treated as mandatory. Identify a small number of shared priorities and leave room for optional activities.
Assign responsibilities visibly
One person might research transport while another handles accommodation or restaurant reservations. Make ownership clear enough that work is not duplicated or silently ignored.
Keep decisions in the shared Trip
Chats are good for discussion, but the current plan should remain easy to find. When a decision changes the itinerary, update the Trip so new or less active participants do not rely on outdated messages.
Plan for disagreement
Decide in advance whether the group can split up for some activities. A successful group trip does not require unanimous participation in every hour of the itinerary.
